About Us

Exercising on an empty stomach burns slightly more fat that after eating, but you won't be able to keep going as long as those who ate before exercising.
Eat for energy. Your body isn't going to feel like working out if you are not fuelling it properly. Always eat breakfast, drink plenty of water and limit stimulats (alcohol, sugar and caffeine) which only provides a temporary high. Instead eat plenty of lean protein and complex slow release carbohydrates.
Enemies of a flat stomach. Situps only- situps tone the top layer of abdominals which meant they do little for your core and obliques. If you have got a layer of fat, you won't see the results. You need to aim for fat burning as well as toning exercises.

About Us Buggy Power

After giving birth most women would say they feel exhausted, bloated, suffer from poor body image, low self esteem and anything but healthy and confident - not to mention having to contend with the demands of a new born baby.

Many women struggle with post-natal depression, not helped by the looming prospect of losing baby weight and pressure to get fit and regain their pre baby weight, combined with feelings of isolation at home, and the stress of caring for a new baby.

Wanting to help others in the same situation and feeling the pressure of having two children and gaining 3 stone on both occasions, getting back to her normal self after giving birth, former personal trainer Katherine decided to do something about it, and decided to set up buggypower, an exercises group aimed at mums who enjoy the fresh air and outdoors and most importantly want to spend time with their babies and to offer an alternative way to exercise other than the traditional gym where you pay for the crèche and a monthly fee.

Testimonials .....................

Excellent way of getting out of the house, getting fit and making new friends. It boosts your self confidence after having a baby.

I used to be fairly fit, but after my daughter was born in May 2006, I found weight gradually creeping back on. I tried a couple of keep fit classes, but they were all in the evenings and it was difficult to get motivated to go out and exercise at the end of a long day when I’d just put the kids to bed. Then I heard about Buggy Power and as part of my new years resolution to try and get back into my size 12 miniskirts by the summer, decided to give it a go!

I’m so glad I did: it’s brilliant to find a class that you can do in the daytime with other mums, and not only can you bring your baby along, they even take part in it (Erin’s expression as I’m doing press-ups leaning on the handle of her push chair is a sight to behold....)

It’s also lovely to be out in the fresh air.

No two classes are the same and we make full use of the steps, bridges, even the sides! ............ I’d recommend these classes to anyone who wants to shift that baby weight, meet other mums, and have a lot of fun.

A unique way to keep fit in a beautiful location. You get to work out and meet new friends without the expense of membership and crèche fees. Best of all you and your baby get to sleep very well after the exercising.

Midwife Nicki Hook, who also runs Bumps Pregnancy Group believes Mrs. Johnson's classes are a good way to combat any depression that may be sneaking up on mums as well as helping them back into shape.

She said “It’s an excellent alternative to other post-natal groups and is a brilliant way of keeping fit. fresh air is beneficial for everyone’s mental health and the idea of making new friends is great.
